Like any sane person, I had a love/hate relationship with Kobe during his playing days. Jacob Weinstein and I realized that Kobe probably felt the same way about the rest of us, which is how I ended up serenading the man himself with an Otis Redding song on a conference call.

Like most people, I had a complicated, love/hate relationship with Kobe during his playing days.

Working on his retirement spot meant diving headfirst into that ambivalence. Then, my partner Jacob Weinstein and I realized that Kobe probably felt the same way about everybody else in the world.

And that’s why I once serenaded Kobe with an Otis Redding song during a conference call.
